If you've been following me here on the blog, you already know I'm always on the hunt for hotels that aren't just beautiful to look at but can also double as a proper workspace. Since I'm a remote worker, I can't afford to stay somewhere that makes me want to escape the room just to get things done.
Good news: Makati Palace Hotel delivered on both fronts.
I spent 4 days and 3 nights here, and I'm taking you through the whole experience: the good, the great, and the one tiny thing that made me miss a call or two.
First Impressions: Roman Grandeur, Done Right
The moment you step into the lobby, it's clear this isn't your ordinary hotel. The whole aesthetic is Roman-inspired think grand columns, warm lighting, and the kind of interior that makes you feel like you've been transported to a villa in Italy, except you're actually in Makati.
It's old-world elegance with a comfortable edge, not the kind of place that feels like a museum where you're afraid to move.
One of the first things I noticed: their reception is open 24 hours. That's huge, especially if you're the type of traveler with an unpredictable schedule. Whether it's an early check-in or a random question at midnight, there's genuinely someone there to help.
The 5th Floor Rooms: The View I Didn't Want to Leave
I got a room on the 5th floor, and honestly, this ended up being my favorite part of the entire stay. My room had a huge window that let in so much natural sunlight throughout the day the kind of light where you don't even need to turn on a lamp in the morning. Perfect for content creation too, if I'm being honest. The lighting alone did half the work for me.
And the view? Chef's kiss. You could really see the Makati City skyline from my window every hour of the day brought a different mood.
The room itself was spacious too none of that cramped, squeeze-you-in feeling. There was actual room to move around, unpack properly, and not feel like you were living out of a suitcase in a tiny box.
For Remote Workers Like Me
Since I work remotely, one of my top priorities in any hotel stay is the wifi and the workspace. This is where Makati Palace really delivered.
Wifi: The connection was decent, and I didn't experience any lag or disconnection while working. That's a big deal, because that's usually the most stressful part of traveling: losing connection in the middle of a meeting. One heads-up, though: they occasionally change the wifi password without giving guests a warning, so make sure you have the front desk's number handy in case you suddenly can't connect.
Workspace: There's a dedicated table and a comfortable chair inside the room, perfect for anyone who needs to set up a proper "office" while traveling. I didn't have to get creative about where to sit; it was ready to handle a full workday from the start.
Room Amenities: Genuinely Thoughtful
Unpacking their amenities was honestly a treat, because it felt like they thought of everything:
- Safety box: I made full use of this for my gadgets. Real peace of mind, especially when you're traveling with a lot of camera equipment, laptop, etc., like I do.
- Bathtub with cold & hot shower: after a long day of walking around Makati, this was exactly what I needed.
- Complimentary dental kit, body wash, shampoo & conditioner: the essentials you usually forget to pack, already there waiting for you.
- Hair blower: small thing, but a big help when you're rushing out the door.
- Spacious closet: I didn't expect the closet space to be this generous. If you're the kind of traveler who packs like you're bringing your whole wardrobe (guilty), you'll appreciate this.
Beyond the Room: The Full Hotel Experience
One of the highlights of my stay was making the most of the other facilities too. I used the gym and even shot some content there (yes, gym content with some brands is coming; watch out for it ). I also made time for the pool area, which was perfect for unwinding after a busy day.
Location: Makati City Right at Your Doorstep
If you're someone who wants to explore Makati City, this is the place to stay. Everything you need is right around you; restaurants, convenience stores, spas, and parks are all just steps away. You don't have to commute far to experience the city; it's practically at your doorstep.
The Only Hiccup
I'm always honest here on the blog, so I'll say it: the front desk didn't always answer calls right away. That was really the only thing I'd flag. Everything else was wonderful, especially the guards, who were genuinely kind and accommodating and made me feel safe throughout the entire stay.
Final Verdict
4 days, 3 nights at Makati Palace Hotel, and I wouldn't say that was just enough; I wanted more. Between the Roman-inspired ambiance, the view from my room, the fully functional workspace, and the genuinely accommodating staff, every hour here felt worth it.
The next time I'm in Makati, Makati Palace Hotel will be my first choice. No question.
